Use these passages throughout the week to deepen your reflection on almsgiving - love made visible through generosity and compassion.
Remember: This is not about covering ground. It's about letting God's Word cover you.
Day 1 → Proverbs 19:17
"Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed."
How does this verse reframe your understanding of giving?
Day 2 → Matthew 25:31-40
"Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
Jesus identifies himself with the hungry, the stranger, the sick, and the imprisoned. What does this mean for how we see others?
Day 3 → Acts 10:1-4
Cornelius' prayers and alms "ascended as a memorial before God."
Notice how prayer and generosity are linked. How might your giving become an act of worship?
Day 4 → 2 Corinthians 9:6-11
"God loves a cheerful giver."
Generosity flows from abundance, not scarcity. How does trusting God's provision free you to give?
Day 5 → James 2:14-17
"Faith without works is dead."
James challenges us to let faith become action. Where is God inviting you to move from belief to deed?
How to Use These Readings
- Choose one passage per day
- Read it slowly, perhaps 2-3 times
- Sit in silence for a few moments afterward
- Ask: Who is God inviting me to see and serve today?
- Look for one opportunity to practice generosity
Almsgiving is not about the size of the gift. It's about the posture of the heart.
